TL;DR COMBAT's Spec C1 Sandstorm -6.5: a two-piece composite USSSA bat that fills the gap between -8 and -5. 2-3/4 in barrel, balanced swing and a vibration-dampening connection. Legal in 13U, not 14U. 30-32 in, 23.5-25.5 oz. Add our ProMAX Heat Roll for maximum performance.

The -6.5 is the most interesting drop in the Spec C1 lineup, and it may turn out to be the most useful! The 2027 COMBAT MFG Spec C1 Sandstorm -6.5, model CUT7C1S6, is a two-piece composite USSSA bat with a 2-3/4 inch barrel, a balanced swing weight, and a vibration-dampening connection. Most of the popular USSSA lines go straight from a -8 to a -5. COMBAT split the difference and gave stronger players a real middle step instead of a three-ounce leap. It’s built for strong 11U and 12U hitters, plus 13U players who want more mass behind the ball without giving up the bat speed they’ve worked for. The Sandstorm look carries over, too: a warm sand finish, COMBAT’s script logo in black and hot pink, bold SPEC C1 lettering, a sand grip, and a hot pink knob. Younger hitters can start with the Spec C1 -10, and players heading toward 14U and BBCOR can move up to the Spec C1 -5.

Here’s what you get: COMBAT’s two-piece composite build joins the barrel and handle with a connection designed to dampen vibration, so mishits stay easier on the hands as pitchers start throwing harder. The 2-3/4 inch barrel is as big as USSSA allows. The balanced swing weight keeps that barrel moving quickly, which matters when a player is adding weight. With a -6.5 drop, every length lands on a half-ounce weight. A 31 inch bat weighs 24.5 ounces, an ounce and a half more than a 31 inch -8 and an ounce and a half less than a 31 inch -5. COMBAT’s Clinch Spec Grip adds tack and cushion for a secure hold. The Spec C1 -6.5 carries the USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp. It is not approved for USA Baseball (Little League) play or for high school and college, which require BBCOR. It also doesn’t meet USSSA’s 14U requirement of a -5 or heavier. It comes in 30, 31, and 32 inch lengths at 23.5, 24.5, and 25.5 ounces, with COMBAT’s 12 month manufacturer’s warranty.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

QUESTION: Should I order this bat stock/untouched or Heat Rolled with Progressive Pressure?
ANSWER: If you order your new bat Heat Rolled with Progressive Pressure, it will be delivered to you completely and evenly broken in. This process adds 20-40ft of distance to your solid hits, increases consistency, improves durability and adds 2-3 business days of lead time to your order. If you plan to use the bat in an official game or event, please verify the legality of our process with your league or sanctioning body before use. We (LongballBats.com) do not encourage the use of a Heat Rolled bat in any game or event where it is against the rules. Click here for details about our process!

QUESTION: Why would I want a -6.5 instead of a -8 or -5 drop?
ANSWER: Because three ounces is a big jump. Most USSSA lines go straight from a -8 to a -5 drop, so a 31 inch bat goes from 23 to 26 ounces overnight. For a lot of players, that’s enough to slow the swing and throw off their timing! The -6.5 splits that jump in half. A 31 inch Spec C1 -6.5 weighs 24.5 ounces, which gives your player more mass behind the ball than a -8 without the full weight of a -5. It’s a smart bridge for strong hitters who’ve outgrown their -8 but aren’t quite ready for a -5. It can also be a good long-term pick for players who simply hit best at that weight.

QUESTION: Which USSSA divisions can use the Spec C1 -6.5?
ANSWER: Under USSSA’s current national rules, 12U and younger have no drop restriction, so the -6.5 is legal there with its 1.15 BPF stamp. In 13U, players must use a -8 or heavier bat, and a -6.5 qualifies. One exception is the Elite World Series, where 13 Majors must use a -5, BBCOR, or wood bat. In 14U, USSSA requires a -5 or heavier bat, and starting in 2026, -3 BBCOR became the national standard unless your state adopted a -5 exception. Either way, the -6.5 isn’t legal in 14U. Rules can vary by event and state, so check with your tournament director before game day. Confused? Please feel free to give us a call, as well!

QUESTION: Who should swing the Spec C1 -6.5?
ANSWER: Strong, confident hitters who have outgrown a -8. That’s often 11U and 12U players with good size and bat speed, along with 13U players who want a heavier bat but aren’t ready for a -5 drop. The signs are easy to spot: a player who’s consistently early, pulls a lot of balls foul, or swings their -8 like it’s a toothpick. If the -6.5 slows a player down or makes them late, they’re not ready yet. A -8 drop or the Spec C1 -10 is the better fit for now. If they handle it easily and they’re headed toward 14U, the Spec C1 -5 is the next step.

QUESTION: What length should I get in the -6.5?
ANSWER: The -6.5 comes in 30, 31, and 32 inches, weighing 23.5, 24.5, and 25.5 ounces. A good starting point is the length your player swings now. Each length is a little heavier than the same length in a -8, so staying at the same length is usually the easiest way to add weight without changing everything at once. If your player is growing fast and already reaching for more bat, moving up an inch can make sense. Just remember: it also adds another ounce! Not sure? Send us your player’s age, height, weight, and current bat, and we’ll help you choose.
