QUESTION: Who is the Hype Fire -11 USA built for?
ANSWER: Most hitters swinging a -11 are 7 to 9 years old and in their first or second season of kid pitch, though it also fits a smaller or lighter 10 year old who needs a longer bat for plate coverage without the extra weight. A 27 inch fits most 7 year olds, a 28 inch most 8 year olds, and a 29 or 30 inch most 9 year olds. One thing that makes this bat unusual is that it runs all the way up to 31 inches, so a tall, skinny kid can get the length they need to cover the outside corner while keeping the bat light enough to swing hard. Bat speed wins at this age! When in doubt, go lighter and shorter.
QUESTION: When should my player move up from a tee ball bat to the Hype Fire -11?
ANSWER: The moment they are playing in a division that uses a real baseball and requires a USA-stamped bat. Tee ball bats are built for soft tee balls and carry a tee ball stamp, and most are not approved for coach pitch or kid pitch play. Easton makes a Hype Fire -13 USA tee ball bat for the youngest players, and the -11 is the natural next step when a kid moves into coach pitch, machine pitch, or Little League Minors. If your player is 7 or older and swinging at a real ball, they are ready for the -11.
QUESTION: Is the Hype Fire -11 USA legal for coach pitch, machine pitch, and Little League Minors?
ANSWER: Yes. The EUS7HYP11 carries the USA Baseball certification stamp, which is what Little League Minors and Majors, Cal Ripken, Babe Ruth, PONY, Dixie Youth, and most other rec leagues require, including their coach pitch and machine pitch divisions. It is not certified for USSSA 1.15 BPF-only events, so if your player is in a USSSA coach pitch or junior big barrel division, look at the Hype Fire JBB instead. As always, confirm your league's bat rules before game day.
