Most bats look their best the day you unwrap them and get uglier from there. The 2027 Easton Dub Darkside runs the other direction! It shows up in a sleek chrome and black finish, and then, hit by hit, the chrome on the front decal starts to wear through and a red Darkside graphic underneath begins to show. Easton calls it DUBLVZN technology, and it turns the bat into a running record of a hitter's season. The more balls a kid squares up, the more of the Darkside comes out. That alone would make it the coolest bat in the dugout, but the Dub was already one of the most talked about USSSA bats in the game before it got the paint job, and the reason is what's inside the barrel.
The Dub is Easton's double barrel USSSA bat, and for 2027 it carries the 2X Double Barrel Construction that made the original a hit. Picture a thin outer barrel that is free to flex along its entire length, wrapped around a lightweight inner barrel that governs performance right at the USSSA 1.15 BPF limit. Because the outer barrel is doing the flexing and the inner barrel is doing the governing, the whole hitting surface stays live, which is why Easton says the Dub delivers more barrel flex than any other USSSA bat it makes. In plain terms, the sweet spot feels bigger and mishits still carry. The -10 is built with a balanced swing weight, so a 6 to 10 year old gets maximum bat speed and control through the zone rather than an end-loaded feel. The ConneXion Max elastomer connection interlocks the composite handle to the barrel and takes the sting out of inside pitches, the Opti-Flex handle is tuned for each length so a 27 inch and a 31 inch both flex the way their hitters load, and the Gen2 In2uitiv Feel Soft Knob and 1.8mm perforated Flow+Tack grip keep young hands comfortable across a tournament weekend.

QUESTION: Why is the graphic on my Dub Darkside changing, and is it still legal?
ANSWER: That is DUBLVZN, and it is working exactly as designed. The chrome Dub and Darkside decal on the front of the bat has a light top layer that wears away with normal contact, revealing a red graphic underneath. Only that front decal changes. The USSSA 1.15 BPF stamp, serial number, model name, and manufacturer name are printed separately and stay fully legible, and USSSA has reviewed and approved the design and instructed umpires not to pull the bat just because its graphics are changing. One warning: let the baseballs do the work. Scratching the chrome off with keys or coins can void the warranty. If loose flakes show up, brush them off before the game.
QUESTION: How does the Dub Darkside compare to the Easton Hype Fire -10?
ANSWER: They are Easton's two premium USSSA -10 bats, and they share a lot: two-piece composite construction, ConneXion Max, Opti-Flex handle, Gen2 In2uitiv Feel Soft Knob, and a 2-3/4 inch barrel. The difference is the barrel itself. QUESTION: What is the difference between the 2026 Dub and the 2027 Dub Darkside?
ANSWER: The build is the same. The 2026 Dub introduced 2X Double Barrel Construction, ConneXion Max, Opti-Flex, and the Gen2 In2uitiv Feel Soft Knob, and the 2027 Dub Darkside carries all of it forward unchanged. What is new is the look: the Darkside edition trades the original colorway for a chrome and black finish with the DUBLVZN reveal, so the bat changes appearance over a season. If you want the Dub's performance without the transforming graphic, the 2026 is still the same bat underneath. If you want the one every kid in the dugout is going to ask about, it is the Darkside.
