The Vanilla Gorilla has been the loudest bat in the USSSA game for years, and senior hitters have been asking DeMarini the same question the whole time: when do we get one? The answer is the 2027 Silva Gorilla! It's Jason Magnum's signature power bat rebuilt for Senior Softball, with a full 13 inch endloaded Advanced Performance Composite barrel, an extra-stiff 4.One Composite Handle, and the SSUSA stamp that makes it legal at the tournaments senior players actually travel to. DeMarini calls it dangerous to challenge the alpha. We would put it more simply: this is the bat for the senior hitter who bats fourth, stands deep in the box, and wants a swing that finishes hard through the zone. It's the first Silva Gorilla, and DeMarini built it to make an entrance.

The design philosophy is straight out of the JMag playbook. The 13 inch APC barrel gives you a long, live hitting surface with a big sweet spot, and the endloaded weighting puts real mass out front where a power hitter's contact happens. Then DeMarini pairs it with the stiffest handle in its lineup, the extra-stiff 4.One Composite Handle, so the energy a strong senior hitter generates goes into the barrel and the ball rather than bleeding off in handle flex at contact. That's the opposite of how most two-piece bats are built, and it's exactly why hitters who love the Vanilla Gorilla love it: the two-piece design still keeps the sting manageable, but the swing feels connected and the ball comes off with authority. Available in 25, 26, and 27 ounces, designed and built in the USA in Hillsboro, Oregon, and backed by DeMarini's one year warranty, which is rarer than you would think in the senior bat category.

A 13 inch endloaded senior bat with a stiff handle is a serious piece of equipment, and it's not the right bat for every senior hitter. That's where LongballBats.com earns your business! We've been the Bat Performance Experts since 2016, our staff carries more than 100 years of combined baseball and softball experience, and we carry senior bats from DeMarini, Anonymous, Anarchy, and all the rest of the brands that matter in SSUSA play. Tell us what you swing now, how you hit, and what you want more of, and we'll tell you straight whether the Silva Gorilla's endloaded, stiff-handle profile is going to make you better or whether a balanced or mid-loaded senior bat is the smarter buy. Buy the right bat once! We'll help you find it.

QUESTION: Should I order this bat stock/untouched or Heat Rolled with Progressive Pressure?
ANSWER: If you order your new bat Heat Rolled with Progressive Pressure, it will be delivered to you completely and evenly broken in. This process adds 20-40ft of distance to your solid hits, increases consistency, improves durability and adds 2-3 business days of lead time to your order. If you plan to use the bat in an official game or event, please verify the legality of our process with your league or sanctioning body before use. We (LongballBats.com) do not encourage the use of a Heat Rolled bat in any game or event where it is against the rules. Click here for details about our process!

QUESTION: What is the difference between the Silva Gorilla and the Vanilla Gorilla?
ANSWER: The certification and the barrel. The Vanilla Gorilla is JMag's USSSA bat, with a 12.5 inch APC barrel and the USSSA 240 stamp that also covers NSA and ISA play. The Silva Gorilla is the senior version, with a longer 13 inch APC barrel and the SSUSA Senior Softball stamp. Both are two-piece designs with an endloaded swing weight and the extra-stiff 4.One Composite Handle, so they feel like siblings in the hands. If you play USSSA, get the Vanilla. If you play senior ball, get the Silva. Plenty of hitters who play both end up with one of each.

QUESTION: Can I use the Silva Gorilla in USSSA, NSA, ISA, or USA/ASA play?
ANSWER: No. The WBD2690010 carries the Senior Softball (SSUSA) certification only, which is a different and higher-performance standard than the ones used in open division slowpitch. It is legal in SSUSA leagues and tournaments and in local senior leagues that follow the SSUSA bat rule. It is not legal in USSSA, NSA, ISA, or USA/ASA games. Some senior organizations and tournaments maintain their own approved bat lists, so check with the director before swinging it in a USSSA Senior or ISA senior event.

QUESTION: Is the extra-stiff 4.One handle too harsh for a senior hitter?
ANSWER: For most senior power hitters, no, and it's the reason to buy this bat. A stiff handle sends more of your swing into the ball instead of losing it to flex, which matters in senior softball where the hitter supplies most of the energy. The Silva Gorilla is still a two-piece design, so the connection between the handle and barrel takes the edge off a mishit even though the handle itself is stiff. Hitters coming from a very soft, whippy two-piece will notice a firmer, more direct feel and should give it a few rounds of batting practice. Hitters coming from a one-piece senior bat will find it familiar and a little more comfortable.
