This matte black-on-black Spec A1 was made available at Omaha Baseball Village during the 2025 College World Series and nowhere else, which means the only people who got one at retail were the ones standing in line in Nebraska in June. Strip away the mystique and the Shadowcast is a Spec A1, which is the whole point. Combat calls the Spec A1 the top of the BBCOR class, and the Shadowcast carries every piece of that build under its blacked-out finish. SFX Barrel Technology is the reason the Spec A1 hits the way it does: a set of special engineering processes that create a longer barrel and a bigger sweet spot than any other one-piece alloy, so there's more of the bat that produces hard contact and more room for error when you don't square one up. Our free shipping method is just the cheapest method available to your address, which is usually a 2-6 day transit time but is NOT guaranteed. The upgrade options specify their transit times. UPS 2 Day Air and/or UPS Next Day Air are popular options for customers needing a bat quickly.
QUESTION: Why is this bat priced higher than retail?
ANSWER: Since limited edition and highly sought after bats are often are next to impossible to get, there are times that we're willing to pay higher than retail prices for them in the secondary market so that we're able to make them available to our customers. QUESTION: Where was the Shadowcast sold, and why is it so hard to find?
ANSWER: The Shadowcast was a College World Series exclusive. Combat made it available at Omaha Baseball Village during the 2025 CWS in June, and it wasn't sold through Combat's website or regular retailers during that run. That's why you'll see it described as "unreleased" on resale sites: it never had a normal launch. Between the tiny window, the small quantity, and the fact that the Spec A1 was already one of the most talked-about BBCOR bats in the game, it became a collector's item almost immediately. QUESTION: Does the Shadowcast perform differently from a regular Spec A1?
ANSWER: No. The Shadowcast is a Spec A1 in a limited edition colorway, and Combat builds every Spec A1 the same way: one-piece alloy, SFX Barrel Technology, balanced swing weight, Clinch Spec Grip. Combat's own listing spells out the same features for the Shadowcast that it lists for every other Spec A1. What you're paying for with the Shadowcast is the look and the rarity, and if you swing it, you'll get exactly the same performance the Spec A1 is known for. That's not a knock! It's the best of both worlds: a legitimate gamer that also happens to be a collector's piece.
QUESTION: Is the Shadowcast legal for college baseball?
ANSWER: Yes. The Shadowcast is BBCOR .50 certified and approved for NFHS high school, NCAA, and NJCAA play. Its matte black finish doesn't run into the college bat color restrictions that affect some other Combat colorways, like the orange Rodeo "Greatest Show on Dirt."
