Some players adjust to the game. Some players make the game adjust to them, and Short Porch built the 2026 DDT Blackout for the second kind! It carries David Ireland's signature, a blacked-out finish that looks like it means business, and a build that backs it up: a two-piece Kevlar construction with a wide 12.5 inch barrel and a .75 ounce end load, which puts it squarely between the half ounce loads most senior bats carry and the full ounce reserved for the biggest swingers in the lineup. That three quarters of an ounce is the whole personality of this bat. It's enough mass to make outfielders take a step back, and not so much that a senior hitter has to rebuild his swing around it. Step in with a plan, swing with bad intentions, and let the barrel do the rest.

What separates the DDT Blackout from the other two-piece senior bats in the rack is in the name. DDT stands for Dual Distribution Technology, Short Porch's engineering for distributing energy across both pieces of the bat at the moment of contact, so the force a hitter generates travels into the barrel instead of getting lost at the joint. Short Porch pairs it with a Zero-Flex Handle, a stiff handle design that removes vibration and keeps the connection between the hands and the barrel clean and direct. The combination gives you what two-piece senior bats usually can't: the comfort of a two-piece on a mishit with the energy transfer of a one-piece on a barrel shot. The Kevlar-reinforced composite keeps the oversized sweet spot lively through a full season, and Short Porch's Spin-Tech barrel engineering is tuned to maximize trampoline effect and ball spin at contact. Available in 25.5, 26.5, and 27.5 ounces, certified for SSUSA, NSA, ISA, and USSSA Senior play.

Short Porch is a smaller brand that senior hitters tend to find by word of mouth, and that's exactly why you want to buy one from a shop that knows the lineup. LongballBats.com has been the Bat Performance Experts since 2016, our staff carries more than 100 years of combined baseball and softball experience, and we carry the full Short Porch senior line, from the one-piece Caged to the OG Blackout Wig Popper. Tell us what you swing now, how you hit, and what you want more of, and we'll tell you straight whether the DDT Blackout's .75 ounce load and two-piece feel are right for your swing or whether one of its siblings fits better. Buy the right bat once. We'll help you find it!

QUESTION: Should I order this bat stock/untouched or Heat Rolled with Progressive Pressure?
ANSWER: If you order your new bat Heat Rolled with Progressive Pressure, it will be delivered to you completely and evenly broken in. This process adds 20-40ft of distance to your solid hits, improves consistency, increases durability and adds 2-3 business days of lead time to your order. If you plan to use the bat in an official game or event, please verify the legality of our process with your league or sanctioning body before use. We (LongballBats.com) do not encourage the use of a Heat Rolled bat in any game or event where it is against the rules. Click here for details about our process!

QUESTION: What is DDT, and why does it matter on a two-piece bat?
ANSWER: DDT is Dual Distribution Technology, Short Porch's approach to the biggest weakness of two-piece bats: energy loss at the connection. A typical two-piece bat flexes at the joint to absorb vibration, and some of the hitter's swing energy gets absorbed along with it. DDT is engineered to distribute that energy across both pieces of the bat at contact, so the force goes into the barrel instead of dissipating at the handle. Paired with the Zero-Flex Handle, the result is a two-piece bat that hits with the directness of a one-piece while still taking the sting off a mishit. For a senior hitter who plays four or five games on a Saturday, that combination matters.

QUESTION: How does the DDT Blackout compare to the Short Porch Caged and the OG Blackout Wig Popper?
ANSWER: All three are 2026 Short Porch senior bats built on Kevlar composite and certified for the same senior organizations, and the difference is construction and load. The DDT Blackout is the two-piece option, with a .75 ounce end load and a Zero-Flex Handle for a connected but forgiving feel. The Caged is Short Porch's one-piece DDT bat with a half ounce load, built for hitters who want pure one-piece feedback. The OG Blackout Wig Popper is Ron Yeager's one-piece signature bat. If you like the feel of a two-piece, the DDT Blackout is your Short Porch. If you want a one-piece, look at the Caged or the Wig Popper. We carry all three!

QUESTION: Which leagues is the DDT Blackout legal in, and does it have a warranty?
ANSWER: The DDT Blackout is certified for SSUSA, NSA, ISA, and USSSA Senior play, which covers the major senior softball organizations and most local senior leagues that follow their bat lists. It's a senior bat, so it's not legal in USA/ASA or USSSA open division slowpitch. Like most senior bats, it's sold without a manufacturer's warranty. Senior bats run at a higher performance level than open division bats, and manufacturers across the category treat them as final sale for that reason. Keep it out of the cold, rotate it between swings, and it will give you a full season.
