Every rider knows the feeling of taking the exit nobody else takes. Combat put that feeling on a bat! The Blue Biker is the Steel Horses Spec A1 for the hitter who’d rather carve his own line than follow the pack, and it says so right on the barrel: “The Road Less Travelled,” in gold. The whole bat is dressed for the ride, with a powder blue body, Combat in gold script, a cream panel for the motto, a blue end cap, a blue spiral grip with a light blue band, and the Steel Horses emblem, a running horse and a lightning bolt in gold, stamped near the knob. Where the Red Rider is loud and the Leather Horses is worn-in, the Blue Biker is clean, cool, and a little bit cocky, which is exactly how a bat should look when it’s about to do something to a baseball. Combat built it as a limited edition, individually numbered, in five sizes.

The paint is the personality! The Spec A1 underneath is the reason the Steel Horses bats disappear so fast. It’s a stiff, balanced one-piece alloy that independent bat labs have rated at the very top of the BBCOR class, built around SFX Barrel Technology: special engineering processes that give the Spec A1 a longer barrel and a bigger sweet spot than any other one-piece alloy, so more of the bat produces hard contact and a ball off the end still finds the outfield grass. The balanced swing weight keeps it quick through the zone without sacrificing any barrel performance, and testers note that a barrel this big has no business swinging as light as it does. Combat tuned the stiffness so the Blue Biker hits with the direct feel of a one-piece and forgives like a two-piece on a jam shot, which means honest feedback without the numb hands. The Clinch Spec Grip comes pre-loaded with extra tack and just the right amount of cushion, and the sound at contact is the same unmistakable thwack that turns every head in earshot and has hitters barreling balls up just to hear it again. Fully BBCOR .50 certified for high school and college play, with Combat’s full twelve month warranty.

Combat’s stated philosophy is that it would rather be the best than the best known, so every bat it makes comes out in small, limited batches, and the Steel Horses drops are no exception. LongballBats.com has been the Bat Performance Experts since 2016, our staff carries more than 100 years of combined baseball and softball experience, and we’ve built one of the largest Combat Spec A1 selections anywhere, from the current drops to the Rare Finds section where we stock the sold-out and limited edition colorways you can’t get from Combat anymore. If you want the Blue Biker in your size, grab it while we have it, and if you’re on the fence between a 32 and a 33, ask us. We’ll give you a straight answer and get the right bat on its way, fast!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

QUESTION: Should I order this bat stock/untouched or Heat Rolled with Progressive Pressure?
ANSWER: If you order your new bat Heat Rolled with Progressive Pressure, it will be delivered to you completely and evenly broken in. This process adds 20-40ft of distance to your solid hits, increases consistency, improves durability and adds 2-3 business days of lead time to your order. If you plan to use the bat in an official game or event, please verify the legality of our process with your league or sanctioning body before use. We (LongballBats.com) do not encourage the use of a Heat Rolled bat in any game or event where it is against the rules. Click here for details about our process!

QUESTION: What does “The Road Less Travelled” mean on the Blue Biker?
ANSWER: It’s the motto Combat chose for this colorway, and it borrows from one of the most famous lines in American poetry about choosing the path other people don’t. On a motorcycle-themed bat, it’s a nod to the rider who takes the back road instead of the interstate. In the batter’s box, it’s a nod to the hitter who does the work nobody sees and swings a bat nobody else has. Combat spelled it the British way, with two L’s, and it’s printed in gold on a cream panel so it reads from the dugout.

QUESTION: What’s the difference between the Blue Biker, the Leather Horses, and the Red Rider?
ANSWER: They’re the three Spec A1 colorways in Combat’s Steel Horses collection, and the difference is purely visual. The Red Rider is the bright one, red and cream with chrome energy. The Leather Horses is blacked out with cream speckle and a tan leather-look grip. The Blue Biker is powder blue with gold accents and a blue grip. All three are built identically with SFX Barrel Technology, a balanced swing weight, and the Clinch Spec Grip, all three come in the same five sizes, and all three carry the Steel Horses emblem and a motto of their own. Pick the one that belongs in your bag. Combat also makes a Steel Horses Shadow Rider on its Spec H1 hybrid platform for hitters who want a two-piece feel. We carry the Steel Horses bats as they drop, and the ones that sell out land in our Rare Finds section.

QUESTION: What makes the Spec A1 different from other one-piece alloy BBCOR bats?
ANSWER: The barrel. Most one-piece alloys have a sweet spot a few inches long and a stiff, unforgiving feel everywhere else. Combat’s SFX Barrel Technology stretches the hitting surface and the sweet spot further than any other one-piece alloy, and Combat tuned the bat’s stiffness so a mishit doesn’t punish your hands the way an old-school alloy did. The result is a one-piece that independent testers have rated at the top of the BBCOR category, with the loud contact and direct feedback hitters love about alloy and a forgiveness that usually takes a two-piece to get. It’s BBCOR .50 certified and legal for NFHS, NCAA, and NJCAA play, and the blue and gold colorway doesn’t run into any college bat color restrictions. As always, confirm with your league before game day.
