The 2027 Marucci RCKLESS Gen 2 Hybrid Puck BBCOR baseball bat (MCBRHP2) is the bat we point to when a high school or college hitter tells us they want real barrel mass without the sluggish swing that usually comes with it. This is the second generation of the RCKLESS line that grew out of Marucci's CATX RCKLESS family, and the Hybrid Puck is the most interesting build in the 2027 lineup. It pairs a loaded AZR Alloy barrel with a composite handle in a two-piece design, then adds Marucci's one inch Puck Knob, a weighted knob extension that shifts the balance point back toward your hands. The result is a bat that carries serious mass through the hitting zone but feels noticeably lighter and quicker than the loaded barrel would suggest. That combination of end loaded power and hands-friendly balance is rare in the BBCOR class, and it is why we expect this model to be one of the most talked about bats of the 2027 season.
From a performance standpoint, the barrel is where this bat earns its price tag. Marucci's Multi-Variable Wall Design +Plus varies the wall thickness across the entire barrel profile, and for 2027 those walls are CNC machined to the tightest tolerances Marucci has ever held in production. In practical terms, that precision puts flex where the barrel needs to give and reinforcement where it needs strength, which widens the sweet spot and keeps exit velocity respectable on off center contact. Ring-Free Barrel Construction removes the internal restrictor rings that create dead spots in many alloy barrels, so the whole hitting surface stays live, and the TFX Endcap adds compliance on impacts near the end of the barrel to soften mishits. Feel is handled by the OLS Connection, which Marucci designed to be the stiffest connection piece available while filtering out nearly all vibration, and by the PFX Composite Handle, a Player-Optimized Flex handle that is tuned differently at each bat length so a 32 inch model flexes appropriately for the hitters who swing it.
The Puck Knob deserves its own explanation because it changes how you should size this bat. The knob extension raises your hands roughly one inch up the handle compared to a traditional knob, so Marucci recommends ordering one size longer than your usual bat. If you normally swing a 33, order the 34. Sizing is available in 32/29, 33/30, 34/31, 34.5/31.5, and 35/32, all at the BBCOR standard -3 drop with a 2 5/8 inch barrel diameter. The larger flared knob also gives your bottom hand a secure anchor point, which many hitters find improves bat control deep in counts, and the removable Custom-Molded Hand Taper lets each player dial in the grip transition to their preference. The bat is fully BBCOR certified and legal for NFHS high school and NCAA college play, ships with Marucci's Enhanced Soft-Touch 1.75mm grip installed, and is backed by a one year manufacturer warranty. For power hitters who want loaded barrel performance with a swing that still feels fast, this is one of the strongest options in the 2027 BBCOR class.

QUESTION: Should I order this bat stock/untouched or Heat Rolled with Progressive Pressure?
ANSWER: If you order your new bat Heat Rolled with Progressive Pressure, it will be delivered to you completely and evenly broken in. This process adds 20-40ft of distance to your solid hits, increases consistency, improves durability and adds 2-3 business days of lead time to your order. If you plan to use the bat in an official game or event, please verify the legality of our process with your league or sanctioning body before use. We (LongballBats.com) do not encourage the use of a Heat Rolled bat in any game or event where it is against the rules. Click here for details about our process!
QUESTION: What does the Puck Knob actually do, and do I really need to size up?
ANSWER: The Puck Knob is a one inch weighted extension at the bottom of the handle. That added mass below your hands counterbalances the loaded barrel, pulling the balance point closer to your grip so the bat swings lighter and faster than a standard knob version with the same barrel weight. Because the knob sits an inch tall, your hands end up about an inch higher on the handle than they would on a traditional knob, which effectively shortens the bat in your swing. That is why Marucci recommends ordering one size longer than you normally swing. A hitter who typically uses a 33/30 should order the 34/31 Puck model.
QUESTION: How is the Hybrid Puck different from the RCKLESS Gen 2 Torpedo Puck?
ANSWER: Both bats use the same one inch Puck Knob, but the builds underneath are completely different. The Hybrid Puck is a two-piece bat with a loaded AZR Alloy barrel, a PFX Composite Handle, and the OLS Connection, so it swings with more mass through the zone and does a better job of killing vibration on contact. The Torpedo Puck is a one-piece alloy bat with a tapered torpedo barrel shape that stretches the sweet spot roughly three inches longer and positions it closer to the hands. Choose the Hybrid Puck if you want loaded power with a smooth two-piece feel. Choose the Torpedo Puck if you want maximum barrel length and the direct feedback of a one-piece bat.
