RARE FIND: here at Longball Bats, we take pride in having a huge selection of baseball and softball bats - including hard to find bats like this one! Sold out most everywhere else, this bat is still available here at LBB - while it lasts!
The Miken Freak Primo Maxload USSSA slowpitch softball bat (MSU3PRML) is one of the most sought-after USSSA bats of the last few seasons, and for good reason. The Freak Primo line has been a go-to for serious USSSA power hitters year after year, and the 2023 version keeps the proven 14 inch barrel design that made the Primo famous while adding a redesigned handle and a fresh black and turquoise colorway. Miken discontinued this model after its production run, and clean examples have gotten hard to find, which is why we count the MSU3PRML among our rare finds. If you have been hunting for a 2023 Primo Maxload in 25, 26, or 27 oz, this is your chance to get one before they are gone for good.
On the performance side, this bat is built to hit the ball a long way. The 14 inch barrel with a standard 2 1/4 inch diameter gives you one of the largest hitting surfaces allowed in USSSA play, and Miken's E-Flex 360 barrel design pairs with its C4 carbon fiber layup to deliver flex, rebound, and durability around the full circumference of the barrel, not just on one side. The Maxload half ounce end load moves mass toward the end cap so the barrel carries more momentum into contact, which translates to harder hit balls for hitters who can handle a slightly loaded swing weight. The two-piece composite construction uses Miken's Vortex Xtreme handle, which optimizes the carbon fiber layering in the handle for a controlled amount of flex and faster barrel speed through the zone. Compared to earlier Primo Maxloads, the 2023 handle feels a touch stiffer and more connected, which a lot of hitters prefer because you get quicker feedback at contact without losing the whip that makes the Primo so easy to swing.
This bat carries the USSSA 1.20 BPF stamp with the newer NTS tested 240 compression certification, and it is also approved for NSA and ISA play. It is not certified for USA/ASA leagues. The A1 knob is smaller than Miken's older knobs, making it easier to wrap your bottom finger over it for added leverage and a more comfortable grip. The MSU3PRML is the right bat for USSSA power hitters and gap-to-gap hitters alike who want a big barrel, a huge sweet spot, and forgiveness on mishits, with just enough end load to punish balls without the bat feeling heavy or slow. Backed by Miken's 12 month manufacturer's warranty, this Primo is a bat you can game with confidence in leagues and tournaments.

QUESTION: Why is this bat priced higher than retail?
ANSWER: Since limited edition and highly sought after bats are often are next to impossible to get, there are times that we're willing to pay higher than retail prices for them in the secondary market so that we're able to make them available to our customers. Many customers value performance and convenience over price, so our "RARE FIND" inventory is purchased with this in mind.
QUESTION: Is the 2023 Miken Freak Primo Maxload USSSA (MSU3PRML) a 1.20 or 1.21 BPF bat?
ANSWER: The MSU3PRML is a USSSA 1.20 BPF bat. It carries the newer NTS tested USSSA stamp with the 240 compression designation, which is the current standard for USSSA sanctioned slowpitch play. Bats with the older 1.21 BPF stamp are a different certification and are not the same as this bat.
QUESTION: Can the Miken Freak Primo Maxload USSSA bat be used in USA/ASA leagues?
ANSWER: No. The MSU3PRML is stamped for USSSA, NSA, and ISA play only and is not approved for USA Softball (ASA) leagues. If you need a Freak Primo for USA/ASA play, Miken made a separate USA-stamped version of the 2023 Primo Maxload (MSA3PRML) built to USA Softball performance standards.
QUESTION: How much end load does the 2023 Primo Maxload have, and what weights are available?
ANSWER: The Maxload designation means a half ounce (0.5 oz) end load. It is a slightly end-loaded swing feel rather than a heavy, cap-loaded bat, so most players find it easy to control while still getting the extra momentum through the zone. The 2023 USSSA model is available in 25 oz, 26 oz, and 27 oz.
