Kyle Pearson built his reputation on hitting the ball harder and farther than just about anyone in slowpitch softball, and the 2026 Miken KP23 Maxload brings that same power-first mentality to USA/ASA sanctioned play. This is a two-piece composite slowpitch bat designed for hitters who want serious distance without sacrificing feel. The two-piece construction places an engineered flex point between the handle and barrel, cutting down harsh vibration on mishits while adding whip through the hitting zone. If you have ever come off an at bat with stinging hands from a stiff one-piece bat, the KP23 two-piece is the cure.

The heart of this bat is Miken's MAX FLEX barrel technology. Miken layers the composite in the 12.5 inch barrel at precise angles and pairs that outer shell with an inner core tube, a combination that increases compression and creates a pronounced trampoline effect at contact. Even better, the layup is optimized for each individual weight size, so a 25 ounce model performs just as well for its swing profile as a 28 ounce model does for a bigger hitter. Add the half-ounce Maxload endload, which shifts extra mass toward the end cap, and you get a barrel that carries real momentum into the ball for maximum force at contact. This is a bat built to turn warning track fly balls into home runs.

Up top, the MID FLEX handle works with the two-piece connection to absorb sting and promote barrel whip, while Miken's A1 Knob seats your bottom hand in a locked, comfortable position that reduces slippage and fatigue during long tournament days. The 2026 KP23 Maxload comes in a sharp teal colorway with black and gold barrel branding, is available in 25 through 28 ounce weights, and is backed by a 1-year manufacturer's warranty. It carries the official USA Softball (ASA) certification stamp for sanctioned league and tournament play. Note that this model is certified for USA/ASA play, so if your league runs USSSA rules, check out our USSSA bat selection instead.

QUESTION: Should I order this bat stock/untouched or Heat Rolled with Progressive Pressure?
ANSWER:
If you order your new bat Heat Rolled with Progressive Pressure, it will be delivered to you completely and evenly broken in. This process adds 20-40ft of distance to your solid hits, increases consistency, improves durability and adds 2-3 business days of lead time to your order. If you plan to use the bat in an official game or event, please verify the legality of our process with your league or sanctioning body before use. We (LongballBats.com) do not encourage the use of a Heat Rolled bat in any game or event where it is against the rules. Click here for details about our process!

QUESTION: Is the Miken KP23 MSA6KPL approved for USA Softball and ASA leagues?
ANSWER: Yes. The MSA6KPL carries the official USA Softball certification stamp, which covers leagues and tournaments run under USA Softball rules, formerly known as ASA. Keep in mind this model is not a USSSA bat, so if you split time between USA and USSSA leagues you will want a separate bat for USSSA play. As always, confirm against your league's current approved bat list before game day.

QUESTION: What does Maxload mean on this bat?
ANSWER: Maxload is Miken's term for a half-ounce endload, meaning an extra half ounce of weight is positioned toward the end cap of the barrel. That added mass builds more momentum as the barrel whips through the zone, delivering greater force at contact and more carry on well-struck balls. It is the preferred setup for power hitters and experienced players with the swing mechanics to handle a slightly heavier feel out front.

QUESTION: What is the difference between the two-piece KP23 and the one-piece KP23?
ANSWER: The two-piece MSA6KPL uses a MID FLEX handle and a connection point that reduces vibration and adds whip, giving it a smoother, more forgiving feel that most hitters find easier on the hands. The one-piece version (MSA6KP1L) is stiffer with a longer 12.75 inch barrel and delivers more direct energy transfer, which some advanced power hitters prefer. If you want comfort and feedback with big power, go two-piece. If you want maximum stiffness and instant response, go one-piece.

    Great bat so far

Posted by Patrick Middleton on Jun 8th 2026

I’ve only used this bat for one batting cage session, and one tee session. Has some pop to it, hit a few over the fence, several off the fence in my tee session. Can’t wait to see how I hit against live pitching.
