What Benefits Does Our LongballBats.com GameREADY Baseball or Softball Fielding Glove Break-In Service Provide You?
OUR SECRET WEAPON: THE DR3K MACHINE
In addition to a professional staff with over 100 years of combined experience with baseball and softball at every level, our secret weapon is the DR3K: a state-of-the-art, pneumatically powered glove break-in machine that allows us to combine our expertise with 1005 lbf of applied pressure. The result? Maximized consistency and efficiency in getting YOUR glove game ready - and less time required with manual tools like mallets.
WHAT WE DON'T DO: STEAM
We don't use steam for a multitude of reasons, but mainly because it can damage the leather, causing it to become less durable and lose its shape over time. Overheating can also dry out the leather, making it more susceptible to deterioration, and can ruin the structure of higher-end gloves. While it may seem like a fast way to soften a glove, the risk of using shortcuts like steam is never worth the reward on expensive gloves.
WHAT WE DON'T DO: OVEN
Similar to using steam, "baking" a glove can dry out and damage the leather, making it brittle and causing the laces to break. Extreme heat can cause irreversible damage by altering the leather's protein molecules, potentially shrinking or deforming the glove, and even causing a fire risk.
WHAT WE DON'T DO: OIL
The main risk of using oil to break in a glove is that it can saturate the leather, making the glove heavy, greasy, and more prone to damage over time. It is so easy to use too much or the wrong type of oil (like petroleum-based products) which can weigh down the glove, cause discoloration, clog pores, damage stitching, and even cause the leather to deteriorate or go rancid.
WHAT WE DON'T DO: CREAM
We do not use cream to break in a glove because many products, including shaving cream, contain additives that can damage the leather by making it heavy, greasy, or brittle. While some creams contain lanolin, which comes from sheep, it is not a proper substitute for specialized glove conditioners and may contain acidic ingredients that can harm the glove's material.
SO WHAT DO YOU GET WHEN YOU SHIP US A GLOVE TO BREAK IN?
When you ship us your new or used baseball or softball fielding glove to be broken in, your glove will first be wiped down and inspected, then treated to a full "Game Prepped" break-in by one of our experienced leather experts. All the gloves we work on are treated to a "double hinge" break-in except catcher's mitts, which means they're intended to be used with two fingers in the pinky slot (and shifting your other fingers over one slot, leaving the index finger slot empty.)
HOW FAST IS THE TURNAROUND TIME?
Since our work is very hands-on and very custom, turnaround times do slightly vary based on workload and glove type. That said, we take pride in our typical turnaround time being 2-3 business days from the day we receive your glove - sometimes faster, when possible! If you're in a big hurry, opt for our "Front of the Line" Upgrade when you place your order!
WE GUARANTEE YOUR SATISFACTION WITH OUR WORK
You're going to be impressed with the improvement in your glove from the very first catch when you get it back. That said, if you’re not 100% satisfied with the results for any reason at all, send it back to us and we’ll inspect your glove and go over it again (if beneficial) absolutely free of charge, you pay only for shipping.

Game ready service is LEGIT
My son's glove broke mid-season, so of course, we dreaded having to buy a new one and spend time breaking it in. Luckily, Longball offered their break-in service on the glove we bought brand new from them! It arrived on a Thursday, game ready, and he played Saturday morning with it. Thank you, LBB!
