Contact hitters and players who value bat control tend to prefer balanced two piece composite or hybrid bats. The lighter swing weight helps them stay short to the ball and handle velocity.

 

Younger or smaller high school players transitioning from a drop 5 or drop 8 should look for the most balanced BBCOR bat they can find. The jump to a -3 is significant, and a balanced hybrid or composite model makes that adjustment easier.
